In July of 2011, 24 students and chaperones found their way to Jamaica for a week of work and mission at the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf and Blossom Garden Children's Home. 

The Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf serves 37 children between 4 and 18 years of age, all who have some level of hearing impairment.  Many of the students lives on campus during the school year.  Moving stories were told of students learning to communicate with others after years of feeling isolated.  The work projects here involved mixing and pouring cement for footers of a new building, hauling sand and rock by buckets up a hill and onto a roof to be mixed with cement for a second story.  Bible School was held three evenings during the week, allowing us an opportunity to spend time with many of the children in the community of Eden, including some of the students from JCSD, as well as participate in leading the children in games, music, crafts and a Bible story.

The Blossom Garden Children's Home accommodates almost 60 children, who reside here year-round, all ages seven and under. Our team members enjoyed being helping hands to the staff members by holding babies and playing with the children.  Everyone had an opportunity to play, laugh and love the kids!
