In the Methodist Church, we believe in "Open Communion" which means that one does not have to be a member of the church to receive the sacrament, because it is a sign of God's grace, freely extended to all people.
We observe the Sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. We receive the sacrament by "intinction." As you go forward, you receive the bread, then lightly dip the bread into the chalice, which contains grape juice (never alcohol), then eat the stained bread. This is a memorial feast in which we remember the gift of Christ's body and blood for our salvation.
