Newnan First United Methodist Church has chartered Boy Scout Troop 41 since the 1930's. It is the oldest Troop in the Coweta District and one of the oldest troops in the Flint River Council, which is comprised of eight counties. Troop 41 is under the leadership of Scoutmaster Randy Coggin. Boy Scouts learn the importance of good citizenship, leadership skills, personal fitness and moral values. Boys, ages 11 through 18, are introduced to hobbies and future vocations through the unique merit badge program of the Boy Scouts of America.

The church also charters Cub Scout Pack 41. Cub Scouts, ages 6 through 10, promise to "Do My Best" in the family-oriented program which introduces the boys to scouting events like Cub Day Camp, Pinewood Derby races and other pack activities.

It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and, in other ways, to prepare them to make ethical choices over their lifetime in achieving their full potential.
