The "Cross and Flame" logo is and always will be the universal United Methodist Church symbol. In 2009, we introduced a logo that represents our local church within the community. The life, death and resurrection story of Jesus Christ our Savior is so beautifully told through the visual art in the stained glass windows in the sanctuary of Newnan First United Methodist Church. The dogwood blossom, which is included in these windows, is in the very center of our logo, as well.
The dogwood blossom is in the shape of a cross. What could be more significant? Central to our Christian belief is the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Central to our salvation is our acceptance of God's gift of grace and the forgiveness of sins that comes as a result of Jesus' death. Central to our church's ministry and mission is our "growing in grace so that we may go into the world and share the love of Jesus Christ." Our stained glass logo image with the dogwood blossom in the center symbolizes beautifully all of the aforementioned.
